Lyssa Howley, Project Manager

Lyssa Howley is an associate at BC Pulse in Battle Creek, Michigan. Lyssa joined BC Pulse in July 2012 to support the strategic design of efforts to create a more effective and responsive service delivery system. In her role, Lyssa supports the ongoing action learning process; assists with facilitation, collection, and sharing of knowledge generated by BC Pulse; and supports the evaluation of key project outcomes.

Lyssa is certified as a Community Coach through Leadership that Works. She also serves on the Voces Board of Directors and participates in a volunteer capacity as a childcare provider for its ESL classes. Lyssa was a recipient of the Future 15 award sponsored by the Battle Creek Area Young Professionals and the Next Generation Nonprofit Leader award through the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. She also participated in the Peter Cook Leadership Academy at Grand Valley State University. 

Prior to her role at BC Pulse, Lyssa worked at the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she provided administrative and support services for the Philanthropic and Nonprofit Service unit. Lyssa earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Public & Nonprofit Administration and Spanish from Grand Valley State University.

In everything she does, Lyssa strives to approach her work from a social justice and community-based orientation that is grounded in relationship building and adaptive leadership. She loves Battle Creek and the people that call it ‘home.’ In her free time, Lyssa enjoys reading, drinking coffee, conversing about Latin American history and culture, being outside, and spending time with her husband Pat.
